Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. They moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized that she wanted to be an actress and for many years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught performing and singing. From the age of 10, she took part and performed the main role in a number of Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were selected as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. It broke all records in the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of the Film.
